The Year 12 Pastoral Care Program at Good Shepherd Catholic College provides students with their final opportunity to participate in secondary school life and caters for success in both tertiary and vocational pathways.
For students studying an ATAR Pathway, fantastic teachers and after school tutorials ensures that all students have the best possible opportunity for success and achievement. The Real World Program is delivered to students during Pastoral Care lessons and is designed to assist in their decision making and the decisions which all Year 12 students face when considering potential career pathways as well as other important decisions that they will be confronted with as adults. Furthermore, the Careers Department works closely with Year 12 students, organising work experience and school-based traineeships and apprenticeships. Additionally, the Year 12 students have the opportunity to participate in the school leadership program which allows interested students to nominate for the Student Leadership Team which comprises of two School Captains and four House Captains. The skills acquired here will remain with students throughout their adult lives. Leadership is a value that Good Shepherd aims to foster and develop in all of our Year 12 students.
The Year 12 Pastoral programme also incorporates Retreat Day aimed at developing resilience and stewardship. This day commences with a Mass at the Good Shepherd Parish followed by several visits to community groups within Mount Isa, delivering services in support of these individuals. Finally as a part of the their last year of schooling the Year 12’s will celebrate their Formal during Term Two and their final day of schooling will culminate with a Graduation Mass and Ceremony.
